Match Report

Two wins from two and it's off to Sweden

31.07.2024

PAOK put in a determined and focused display in Bosnia, beating Borac Banja Luka 1-0 to claim qualification to the 3rd qualifying round of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.

The assignment was a difficult one against a league champion. The hosts entered the pitch with a desire to press and in the opening minutes they did just that. But Razvan Lucescu’s players quickly balanced out the game and then took control of it. After some good chances were missed, a goal came that essentially decided the result.

Ozdoev provided the assist, with Murg scoring in the 25th minute, and PAOK took the lead and never looked back.

In fact, with the one-goal advantage in their favor, the Double-headed Eagle players created more good opportunities before teh half-time break.

PAOK started the second half strongly as well, imposing their tempo, and despite the fact that they had good chances, they did not extend their lead.

For their part, Borác Banja Luka tried to find a goal to get back into the tie in the finale, but the PAOK defence held them at bay to lock up the result.

PAOK then won both of their first two games in Europe and booked a date with Malmo in the 3rd qualifying round of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.

Team lineups:

Borac Banja Luka: Siskowski, Herrera, Karolina, Megers, Kvrzic (Cavic 68′), Skorup (Vranies 57′), Grachovac, Vukovic, Savic (Hrelia 57′), Kulasin, Lukic (Marketic 79′).
