Aleksandar Prijović – The Killer

He was acquired in order to provide solutions upfront and has already become PAOK’s top scorer with seven goals in nine encounters after just two months at Toumba. He is “Killer” Aleksandar Prijović and appears on the cover of Toumba Magazine.

07.03.2017

The 26-year old striker spoke to PAOK’s official magazine about his transfer, his life, his childhood in Switzerland, the non-stop football journeys, his aims and expectations. He is full of self-confidence, but not arrogant. He has been like that since a very young age.

“When I was 11, one day we were told at school to prepare a job application as homework. I told my professor then: ‘I don’t need to learn how to apply for a job. I will play football’”.

On the goals:

When I don’t score, I can’t sleep. When I miss opportunities, I toss and turn. I think about it all the time, trying to find out what I could have done differently. I always say that there is nothing to worry about if a striker manages to create many chances. Some of them will find the net eventually. I create many opportunities, so I am not worried. However, when there’s no goal, I become nervous because I know that a goal could have made the difference for my team. Especially when I miss many chances and we lose, I think about it so much. I think that I could have changed the result, I could have made everyone happy. I don’t think about that when on the pitch though. These are thoughts for later, for my post-match analysis. I bring every wasted opportunity to my head and try to deal with it as best as I can.

On the pressure of being PAOK’s most expensive signing:

It’s not a source of stress, but of extra motivation. Fans have high expectations, but so do I. I didn’t come here to go through a trial period, but to make the difference and win titles. I am ambitious and have played for teams with high expectations. In such clubs you need to know how to handle pressure. I can handle it. I know that fans are demanding and I feel I can give them a lot.
