“My aim is the growth of the club and of Greek football”
Read in detail on paokfc.gr the speech of Ivan Savvidis that set the 1st Business Conference organized by PAOK FC in Makedonia Palace in motion.
“Ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues, I am very happy to welcome you to Thessaloniki and Makedonia Palace for the 1st Business Conference about investments in football. I consider this one of the most important issues in nowadays football. PAOK FC are organizing this conference with the aim to showcase their own views on the subject and reaffirm their effort to help the progress of the club and football in Greece.
Sports can’t survive without sponsors, but sponsors need sports as well. Sponsorships often can’t be estimated in purely economic criteria. Football is a social phenomenon, extremely popular and a powerful tool and we shouldn’t underestimate its effect on society.
The biggest football clubs of the world have become enterprises. Their yearly profit is huge. That alone is a very important motivation for every club. It leads to new highways of progress for clubs and sponsors.
Meanwhile the criteria by which we judge football authorities and administrative figures are becoming increasingly stricter. Football nowadays must open new gateways to progress and growth. The sport must overcome “sick behavior” and become competitive on an international level.
I am happy to report that change is underway in Greek football. Today we are witnessing a cleansing process. The new league is very interesting, boasting new referees and exciting the fans. PAOK FC were among the first to lay the foundation for such moves.
That makes me very proud. We haven’t yet fulfilled all our goals. We have a long away ahead of us and extensive work to do. But I can promise you one thing: we will always insist on everyone obeying to rules and regulations in football.
Luck brought me to PAOK at a time of need, when the club were on the very edge. Now PAOK are completely free from debt. We have also decided to build a new home ground and we will not stop at that. PAOK must become the biggest club in Greece. Not only on the pitch, but also in management, infrastructure, organization, academy growth and relation with their fans.
Sooner or later we will help PAOK become independent. Hopefully the opinions and ideas we will share in this Conference will help us in our effort to organize and improve PAOK.
I hope you enjoy an interesting conference and I promise you that PAOK will play an important role in applying advertising principles in Greek football«.
