A different strike by Prijović
Up until a few weeks ago, Aleksandar Prijović hadn’t been able to score against AEK Athens. He achieved that in the Toumba derby though, by netting a brace. He was the hero of the encounter with his two beautiful goals and the first one also earned the Regency Casino Best Goal award for September.
In the last two seasons, Aleksandar Prijović has established himself as the top in-the-box finisher of the Greek Super League. In the encounter against AEK Athens in Toumba, the Serbian forward proved he can do much more than lurk in the area. He broke free behind the rival defenders, ran 40 metres before firing an impeccable shot past Barkas, to the delight of the local crowd.
When called to vote, PAOK fans were loud and clear. Prijović’s goal earned an overwhelming 79,43% in the poll for Regency Casino Best Goal of September. Léo Jabá’s beautiful finish against OFI Crete in Heraklion got second place, while the winning strike of Omar El Kaddouri against Panionios in Nea Smyrni completed the podium.
