«We want to extend our undefeated streak»
What Léo Matos said ahead of the encounter against Aris in Toumba Stadium, for matchday 22 of the Super League Souroti.
Regarding Sunday’s match:
“Every match is different, we can’t expect the same. Our mentality though remains unchanged: to step out on the pitch and get the result we want. In the first round match, we won away and now they are coming to Toumba. Practically they may be the same team, but the timing is different, the ground is different, and all that affects the result. They also want to prove themselves in the league and get more points. We want to extend our undefeated streak”.
On PAOK’s mentality in the game:
“Our philosophy is to win every match, regardless of the opponent. We take it one game at a time. As far as we are concerned, the next game is always the most important one. Once this match is over, we will focus on the following ones. There are nine league fixtures left. If we win six of them, we will be champions. That is why we will focus now on the Aris match, looking for the desired result”.
What kind of game he expects of Sunday:
“We have watched our rivals on video. We know their game. They will try to apply pressure high up the pitch, but our characteristic is ball possession, therefore they will be made to defend a lot. It will be a tough game, with lots of pressure, but I expect quality to decide it”.
Regarding PAOK’s newly-signed players:
“Prijović is an outstanding player. But life goes on. We can’t dwell on his departure. Chuba is very helpful, as he creates spaces for the rest of players to score. Our tactics haven’t changed, but there have been a few modifications on our build-up –the input of our wingers and the rest of our scorers prove that. I believe that will happen against Aris as well. Chuba has achieved that”.
On the last stretch of the season:
“The league is far from over. There are nine matches remaining and we need to focus, to take it one game at a time, to remain cool-headed –that’s very important. Regarding the Greek Cup, we need to finish off the tie this Wednesday. PAOK must win the domestic double, because we deserve it. We need to go at it step by step in both competitions. I want to ask our fans to support us, because both aims are tough to achieve. With their support though, we will be successful”.
