«Two more finals»
Chuba Akpom spoke to Novasports TV ahead of PAOK’s away encounter against PAS Giannina for the last matchday of Super League Souroti.
Regarding the feast and whether he has… calmed down:
«We need to calm down. We have two more finals ahead. We can’t celebrate fully, that was just 50%… Our team remain focused and hopefully we will win the remaining games«.
Regarding his feelings about the league won:
«It might sound weird, but I feel even more insatiable. We won the league, but that only made our appetite bigger for the domestic double. We will be totally satisfied if we add the Greek Cup to our trophies this year«.
Whether the feast was as he imagined it:
«It was beyond my imagination. I will never forget being on the open-top bus and seeing the faces of our fans, their indescribable joy. That’s priceless, it cannot be bought«.
Whether he felt like an… NBA player:
«The support of our fans is so important, given that they hadn’t celebrated any titles in previous years. They deserved it«.
On his dance moves and his love for music:
«Who knows? Perhaps, when I retire, I will turn to music! It’s a big part of my life, I love it«.
Whether he feels that they are making history with PAOK:
«It’s the best feeling. That’s is why we become footballers. We feel as part of something big. It’s the reason that led me to PAOK. I want to experience it as intensely as possible«.
Regarding his presence at his old school and the documentary currently filmed about him:
«I come from a part of England with intense gang violence. I have become a role model at schools, as they point out to children that they can turn to sports and not give in to violence. I went to a part of England with many football teams, but everyone shouted PAOK’s name. They are very interested in my club. This documentary will be ready soon and hopefully you will like it«.
Regarding his injury and the Tripolis game:
«It wasn’t our best performance, that’s for sure. But we are not worried. We are aware of our potential and we will win our two remaining games. My arm was bandaged, I had to take pain killers, but that is proof of my will to be part of the team and help them write history«.
Regarding the upcoming game against PAS Giannina and the possibility of an undefeated league title:
«Remaining undefeated is a huge motive. We want to make history, as the most successful team ever in the league. We will deal with the PAS Giannina match as any other game, aiming to win it as well«.
Regarding PAS’s motivation and the match of the first round:
«It was a difficult match. PAS Giannina will do everything to ensure their permanence. They have an extra motive: nobody wants us to finish the league undefeated, they want to be the only ones to defeat us this season«.
