OFI Crete vs. PAOK: Facts & Figures
Ahead of PAOK’s Super League Matchday 10 clash against OFI Crete at the Yedi Kule, paokfc.gr gives you the lowdown on the background to the match, as well as a look back at our previous encounters against the Heraklion club.
#In the last 12 games against OFI both at home and away in the league, PAOK have won eight, and three games have ended in draw. The last time PAOK lost to OFI was on 4 February 2015, when OFI won 3-1. Dimitris Papadopoulos scored for PAOK, but the Cretans prevailed through goals from George, Lambropoulos and Koutsianikoulis.
PAOK has recorded #3 wins in Heraklion with a 2-0 scoreline, two of those coming in recent years. The first 2-0 win was on 30 November 1980 courtesy of two goals by Vassilis Vassilakos, and the last two victories by that scoreline came in 2008-09 and 2011-12. There have also been six 1-1 draws, while OFI has prevailed 2-1 in eight matches between the clubs in Heraklion. Overall, in 41 matches between the two clubs with OFI as the home team, PAOK have not lost in 19 of them (7 wins – 12 draws).
Dimitris Salpigidis has scored a #8 goals against OFI in league matches and is the club’s top goalscorer in matches between the two teams. Next is Giorgos Kostikos, who counts six goals against the Cretans.
#5 goals have been scored by Kostas Francesco for OFI against PAOK, and he also scored two more against the Cretans as a PAOK player. In the 1996-97 season he spent the first half of the campaign in Heraklion, and the second with PAOK. He managed to score during the first half of the season with OFI at Heraklion, and then he scored twice as a PAOK player against OFI in a 2-0 win at the Toumba.
#5 of PAOK’s six victories in Heraklion have come without PAOK conceding a goal. The only match OFI managed to score in from those matches was in the 2002-03 season, when PAOK led 3-0 thanks to goals by Kafes, Okkas and Salpigidis , and the Cretan club reduced the deficit to 3-2 thanks to goals from Solis and Gomez in the final 10 minutes.
