Andrija Zivkovic wins Regency Casino Best Goal for September award
Andrija Zivkovic’s goal against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers has been voted the Regency Casino Best Goal for September, giving the Serbian his first individual award since joining the club.
It could be said that it was a match arranged by fate. Andrija Zivkovic joined PAOK in the summer from Benfica.
When he left Portugal for Greece, he probably did not have in his mind that his first goal for his new club would be against his former employers.
Alas, that was how things turned out. In only his second game in a black and white shirt, the Serbian ace scored his first strike against Benfica.
Dimitris Giannoulis made a stunning mazy run before offloading to Ζivkovic at just the right moment. He took a touch to control the ball before then firing an unstoppable shot past Odysseas Vlachodimos in the Benfica goal.
And in the poll for the Regency Casino Best Goal for September, Zivkovic garnered 51,41% of the vote to win the individual award.
In second place was Christos Tziolis’ strike against Larissa following an assist from Diego Biseswar, while in third was Dimitris Pelkas with his goal against Krasnodar in Russia, his last strike in a Double-headed Eagle shirt before he departed for Turkey.
