Focus switches to Olympiacos
The countdown to the upcoming derby with Olympiacos is well underway for PAOK. The players returned to trining on Wednesday (14.04) after a programmed rest day on Tuesday and the coaching team are working with the squad on the plan for the big match on Sunday (18.04).
Wednesday’s (14.04) training session was dedicated to the tactical approach for the match in question. After the necessary warm-up exercises and possession games, the tactical elements took center stage via various passing drills, while the final part of the program saw the players play a friendly match between them.
In the final part of the session, Shinji Kagawa felt some discomfort in his right thigh and withdrew from training due to some swelling. The Japanese has already started some physio treatment and an individual training program in the gym and swimming pool and is expected to be back in action in two weeks.
Ingi Ingason had a scheduled lighter workout, focused on recovery, while Ninua and Pereira, who are still carrying niggling stomach and knee injuries respectively, also trained alone. Enea Mihaj continued his long-term rehab training program, while Fernando Varela returned to full training with the rest of the squad.
On Thursday (15.04), PAOK will train at 11:00 in Nea Mesimvria.
