Born on 16 June 1990 in Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil, he made his first steps in football after joining the local club’s youth teams at the age of 13. In 2007, he moved to Avaí FC, but completed the season at Grêmio FC, participating in youth matches.

He made his professional debut at the ranks of Esporte Clube Avenida, featuring in the Campeonato Gaúcho de Futebol of Rio Grande do Sul state. A few months later, he moved to SER Caxias do Sul, where he was given the opportunity to showcase his talent and score his first professional goals. His performances attracted the interest of European clubs and it was FC Zürich who persuaded him in January 2012 to cross the Atlantic Ocean and compete in the Swiss league.

He adjusted to his new surroundings in no time and in his first semester in Europe he conjured up 1 goal and 3 assists in 15 appearances. In 2012-13, he totaled 1 goal and 2 assists in 18 games.

He enjoyed a stellar season in 2013-14, with 11 goals and 7 assists in 40 games and a lead role in FC Zürich’s journey towards the Swiss Cup final. However he didn’t get to participate in the trophy match due to suspension. He was ready for his next step when Stade Rennais FC offered him an opportunity to play football at a higher level.

He didn’t face any adjustment issues in Ligue 1 and was thrown in at the deep end from the start. His tally in the first season at Stade Rennais FC was 3 goals and 5 assists in 40 games and he added 3 goals and 1 assist in 25 encounters in 2015-16. In the following season, he scored twice and served two assists in 14 matches of Ligue 1, before moving to PAOK FC.

He won the Toumba faithful with his Conor McGregor-like celebrations. In 21 encounters he scored 5 goals –one of them in the Greek Cup final against AEK Athens- and served four assists.

He participated in PAOK’s preseason training in 2016-17 and featured in five encounters, before joining Qarabağ FK on loan on the final day of the summer transfer window.

He got to live one of his dreams in Azerbaijan. He participated in the UEFA Champions League group stage and, in the encounter against AS Roma, he became the first player of an Azeri club to score in the top continental competition. In the end of the season, he also celebrated the domestic league title.

The overbooking of foreign players in PAOK squad led to yet another loan last summer. He played for FC Astana in Kazakhstan, winning a second league title, while also netting three goals in the UEFA Europa League.
