Despite their 2-1 loss to Panionios at Nea Smyrni, PAOK qualified for the Greek Cup semi-finals on a 2-2 aggregate. In the 26th minute, Dimitris Saravakos cancelled out the Toumba leg scoreline, but three minutes later Thomas Siggas<\/strong> equalized to put the \u201cDouble-Headed Eagle\u201d on qualification mode.<\/p>\n

In the 75th minute, Basso put Panionios in the lead again. The \u201cblue-and-reds\u201d gave PAOK a scare in the last quarter but didn\u2019t score. Referee Dimitriadis left each side with 10 players in the 64th minute, issuing marching orders to Panionios\u2019 Papadimitriou and PAOK\u2019s Damanakis<\/strong> for their altercation on the pitch.<\/p>\n

Actually, PAOK had wasted the opportunity to finish off qualification in the first leg. Their 1-0 win was too narrow for the chances they created, their three shots on woodwork (Giannis Damanakis<\/strong> 7\u2019, Christos Dimopoulos<\/strong> 46\u2019 and Giorgos Koudas<\/strong> 55\u2019) and their missed penalty (Syrigos saved Giorgos Kostikos\u2019s<\/strong> spot-kick in the 85th minute). Panionios had been in numerical inferiority for more than an hour, as Papamichail was sent off for stepping on Siggas. Damanakis had scored the solitary goal of that first leg in the 10th minute.<\/p>\n
