Because while last season they impressed in <strong>Super League 2 <\/strong>and were promoted, due to <strong>Covid-19<\/strong> the club did not play any games for six months, and so it was unclear how the team would shape up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PAS Giannina<\/strong> are the team with the smallest budget in the league, it has a coach who has no top flight experience, and squad is not an impressive one on paper.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>September<\/strong> onwards, however, the &#8216;<strong>Gianniotes&#8217;<\/strong> have surprised many with their competitive achievements. They may be down in 10th place with only 21 points, but the team&#8217;s style of play on the pitch is excellent. The team has a clear plan and philosophy, and tries to play its own brand of football against every opponent. So far it seems that they have what it takes to achieve its main goal of remaining in the division.<\/p>\n<p>It is also important to mention that the <strong>Gianniotes<\/strong> managed to pull off a great result in the quarter-finals of the Greek Cup, eliminating <strong>Atromitos<\/strong> after two great games of football between the two clubs.<\/p>\n<p>All of the above is the work of A<strong>rgyris Giannikis<\/strong>. A coach who has received a <strong>German<\/strong> footballing education, working in <strong>Germany<\/strong> both as an assistant coach and as the head coach at <strong>Aachen<\/strong> and <strong>Essen<\/strong>, came to <strong>Ioannina <\/strong>and he has gained the trust of the club&#8217;s management after starting to implement his plan from last year.<\/p>\n<p>The squad is mostly made up of\u00a0<strong>Greek<\/strong> players, with the likes of <strong>Pamlidis, Eleftheriadis, Kargas, Pantelakis, Choutesiotis, Saliakas <\/strong>and <strong>Kartalis <\/strong>forming the core,\u00a0but there are also a clutch of quality foreign players, such as <strong>Erramuspe, <\/strong><strong>Peersman, Krizman <\/strong>and <strong>Leo Jean-Baptiste<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The team has found its chemistry and the players their roles on the pitch with <strong>Pamlidis <\/strong>and<strong> Eleftheriadis <\/strong>the club&#8217;s top scorers with five and four goals respectively, while on the creative front <strong>Pamlidis, Kartalis, Erramuspe <\/strong>and <strong>Peersman <\/strong>all leading the assists column of stats with two apiece.<\/p>\n<p>In the match against the <strong>Double-headed Eagle,<\/strong> which will be played in <strong>Peristeri<\/strong> due to the poor condition of the pitch at <strong>Zosimades<\/strong>, <strong>Giannikis <\/strong>will not have <strong>Siontis<\/strong> and <strong>Kargas <\/strong>at his disposal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Paokfc.gr\u2019s Rival Analysis column puts the magnifying glass on this week&#8217;s opponents PAS Giannina, giving you the lowdown on everything you need to know about the Epirus club ahead of our Super League Interwetten Matchday 22 contest in Peristeri.","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":622725,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1520,5],"tags":[1519,2870,3962,5815],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v18.5.1 -
