Born in Craiova<\/strong> on February 8, 1995<\/strong>, Mitrita<\/strong> began his professional career in 2011 with Touro Severin<\/strong> in the second division. After just one season, he got the opportunity to join Vitorul<\/strong> Constanta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the 2012-13<\/strong> season he spent six months on loan at Steaua Bucharest<\/strong> in the Under-21 side, playing mainly in the UEFA Youth League<\/strong> matches. He returned to Constanta<\/strong>, where he stayed until the summer of 2015, making a total of 51 appearances while scoring seven goals and producing nine assists.<\/p>\n

Pescara<\/strong> offered him with a new challenge and he packed his suitcases for the first time to move to Italy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During his stay there he helped his team win promotion to Serie A<\/strong>. His final record with Pescara<\/strong> was 37 appearances, two goals and six assists.<\/p>\n

In July 2017<\/strong> he returned to his homeland with Universitatea Craiova, <\/strong>moving initially on loan before making a permanent transfer.<\/p>\n

In two-and-a-half seasons, Mitrita<\/strong> played 60 times, scoring 29 goals, and contributing 11 assists, going on to be considered one of the top Romanian<\/strong> players. He also won the Romanian Cup<\/strong> in the 2017-18 season, scoring a goal in that successful cup triumph.<\/p>\n

His appearances had the scouts of several clubs around the world interested in his services, but the most serious interest came from New York<\/strong> FC<\/strong> in February 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The American<\/strong> MLS<\/strong> team decided to sign him as one of their allotted foreign players, paying almost eight million euros to bring him to the other side of the Atlantic.<\/p>\n

Mitrica adapted immediately and began to show his worth on the pitch straight away. He made 49 appearances, scoring 18 goals, and also served up seven assists. In October 2020<\/strong> in the midst of a pandemic, he was loaned to Al Ahly<\/strong> to be closer to his family.<\/p>\n

He stayed in Saudi Arabia<\/strong> for one season, playing 30 times, while he scored four goals and created another five.<\/p>\n

Mitrita<\/strong> is also an international with Romania<\/strong>, with whom he has played 13 times and has scored two goals. Before becoming a full international with the senior side, he also represented his country at youth level.<\/p>\n
