The Double-headed Eagle<\/strong> started the match with Pavlenka<\/strong> between the posts, a four-man defense with Taylor, Kedziora, Lovren<\/strong> and Sastre<\/strong>, Kamara<\/strong> and Meite<\/strong> in central midfield, and Konstantelias<\/strong> in front of them with a three-man attack further forward consisting of Despodov, Shoretire<\/strong> and Chalov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ajax<\/strong> made the stronger start, being at a more advanced stage in their summer pre-season preparations and threatened after just two minutes, but Pavlenka<\/strong> had the answer to Godz’s<\/strong> shot, with PAOK<\/strong> gradually balancing out the game and looking to create opportunities.<\/p>\n

The best of these was Kamara’s<\/strong> attempt to assist Konstantelias<\/strong>, who failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Ajax<\/strong> opened the scoring in the 29th minute with Berghaus<\/strong> scoring after a lapse of concentration in the PAOK<\/strong> defence.<\/p>\n

The score remained unchanged until the end of the first half, with Lucescu<\/strong> changing eight of his players at the start of the second half, keeping only Kamara, Meite<\/strong> and Kedziora <\/strong>from the original starting XI. Gugesashvili, Kenny, Michailidis<\/strong>, Baba, Taison, A. Zivkovic, Ozdoev<\/strong> and Mythos<\/strong> joined the action.<\/p>\n

PAOK<\/strong> came out strongly and in the 53rd minute Taison<\/strong> hit the woodwork after being set up by Mythos.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the 57th minute Kamara<\/strong> had a good effort, which was blocked by Pasvir<\/strong>, while in the next phase of play Kamara<\/strong> again had a good moment with a header.<\/p>\n

Tsopouroglu, Bataoulas<\/strong> and Balde<\/strong> also joined the action, with Ajax<\/strong> then scoring a second goal in the 71st minute, against the run of play, with Wolf<\/strong> skipping past Bataoulas<\/strong> and then beating Gugesashvili<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

PAOK’s<\/strong> response was immediate. Balde<\/strong> stole poesseion high up the pitch, passed to Mythos<\/strong> and from a wide position, he made it 2-1 in the 74th minute, which ended up being the final score, despite the fact that PAOK<\/strong> pressed hard for an equalizer.<\/p>\n
