The most famous beach in the city is <\/span><b>Playa de Samil<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gastronomically, <\/span><b>Vigo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><b>Galicia <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">region in general are an experience. The stadium was blessed by the archpriest of Frangoso, Father Faustino Ade.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The opening match was between Celta and the Basque team Real Uni\u00f3n.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Balaidos underwent a large-scale renovation in preparation for the 1982 FIFA World Cup. It has since been renovated several times (2004, 2015\u20132018, 2021\u20132023, 2025).<\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"> The east stand (Marcador) was completely rebuilt in 2023 and can accommodate 6,209 spectators.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"jCAhz\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The stadium has hosted many large concerts.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In 1990, Madonna appeared wearing a Celta jersey, Dire Straits performed in front of 40,000 spectators, as did the Rolling Stones in 1998, as part of their Bridges to Babylon tour.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The record attendance is 45,000 and was recorded on 16.05.1982 in the Celta \u2013 Getafe match.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The dimensions of the pitch are 1.05 X 70m.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A European &#8220;first&#8221; at the Balaidos, after eight years for the Galicians.
