Game postponed due to snow [photos & video]
Heavy snowfall in the city of Xanthi led to the postponement of the local team’s encounter against PAOK for matchday 16 of the Super League. Therefore, the “Double-Headed Eagle” will start the new year in Mytilini on Wednesday, with their Greek Cup encounter against AEL Kalloni (kick-off at 19:15).
The pitch was covered in snow and, despite efforts to clean it, it didn’t get playable. It only allowed for some snow fighting between PAOK players. The two teams came to the stadium as scheduled. Referee Papapetrou inspected the pitch at 16:00 and, after talking briefly to the team managers of Xanthi and PAOK, he decided to postpone the match. PAOK players returned to Thessaloniki.
