Igor Tudor’s right-hand man Ivan Leko spoke to Novasports TV about the Xanthi game and the upcoming clash against AEK in Athens. Here is what the Croatian assistant coach said:
On the lesson learned at Xanthi:
«We learned that, when facing a determined and attack-minded team, we need to display attacking spirit as well, go for the duels and play at a quicker pace. We were not as fast as we should in Xanthi. Perhaps this 1-1 was a fair result, taking into account the opportunities both teams had. I believe we are on the right path, as we haven’t lost in the league for three months now. We need to analyze our game and be even better in our upcoming games«.
On Sabo featuring on the left flank at Pigadia:
«Mak was injured, Rodrigues had recently returned from injury and Jairo had played many back-to-back games. We thought that this was the way to handle the situation, Eric playing on the left, as he does for his national team. Our main aim is not to switch positions, but we need to think that we have five games scheduled in the next fortnight. Everyone will get their chance to prove their worth«.
On the game against AEK Athens:
«We have watched AEK’s games under their new coach. They play good football, they are winning, they have quality in their roster. We also trust in our team though. All such matches begin at 50-50. We are expecting to play well and get a positive result«.
