Our… foreigners

They came from far away. When they landed at Thessaloniki, they didn’t know much. Some left. Some stayed here for a lifetime. But all of them keep the “Double-Headed Eagle” in their hearts. Five foreign former players of PAOK spoke to paokfc.gr for the club’s 90th anniversary.

Five foreign players who got to wear the black-and-white shirt answered our questions on the occasion of PAOK’s 90th anniversary. Here is what they said:

Questions

1.What does PAOK mean to you?

2.What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “PAOK”?

3.A wish for PAOK’s 90th anniversary…

Neto Guerino

  1. PAOK is everything to me. This club changed my life completely. After my football career, I remained in Thessaloniki, got the Greek citizenship, served in the army and became a Greek.
  2. Τhe colours of the “Double-Headed Eagle”. In all my career, I only work black and white shirts. At PAOK and in Brazil, with Clube Atlético Mineiro, SC Corinthians Paulista and Nacional.
  3. We had been wishing so long for an investor to come to the club and restore healthy finances. Ivan Savvidis achieved that. Now it’s high time for the team to build on solid ground and kick-start a successful trajectory that will lead to titles.

Giotis Egomitis

  1. PAOk are a part of my life and will always have a place close to my heart. I lived so many great moments with this team and I will never forget them.
  2. PAOK are a historic club founded by refugees, as all teams I played for in my career. The first thing that pops to mind is “refugees”. I am one as well and I have intense feelings on the subject.
  3. I heartily wish for the “Double-Headed Eagle” to get back on the track of success.

Vieirinha

  1. PAOK means the best years of my football life. I owe them 90% of what I have become as a player.
  2. Madness –that is the first thing that comes to mind. The mad love of the fans for the club in all sports.
  3. I wish all the best to the team. To win the titles that the club and their wonderful fans deserve.

Bruno Cirillo

  1. I consider my three years at PAOK as one of my career’s greatest achievements. Thinking of the past, I am grateful to the people of the club, who gave me the opportunity to compete at a very high level.
  2. All the great games in Greece and Europe, all the memories that will stay with my heart and mind forever.
  3. I wish the best for the club. Especially to the football team, I hope they will do well in the play-offs and I wish my friend Vladan to be successful in all his quests. I also wish from the bottom of my heart for PAOK to become champions.

Mirosław Sznaucner

  1. I spent my best football years at PAOK. I came at a difficult period for the club, but I got to play alongside players I was previously watching on TV, like Lino and Contreras. Today I am still serving the club, my sons play for the youth squads and I wish for them to experience what I did wearing this shirt.
  2. Seriousness. PAOK are a big club with many fans.
  3. I wish for the team to do better year by year, look ahead and aim high. I want to see PAOK reach the top.
