Panathinaikos – PAOK: Vladan Ivić’s press conference

Here is what the head coach of the “Two-Headed Eagle” said after the final whistle of the encounter against Panathinaikos, for matchday 13 of the Super League.

04.12.2016

On his approach to the game:

«We didn’t play for the draw –our substitutions are proof of that. We tried to win the game and change something in our attack, because it didn’t work as it should. Perhaps our attack today was even worse than in previous encounters«.

On his decision to give entrance to Biseswar:

«I expect a lot from Biseswar in the final third of the pitch, I expect solutions of him. He played for 30 minutes today, he played at Trikala as well, because I want him to get into competitive rhythm. He can hold on to the ball in midfield, provide the passes our forwards need… Today he participated in our plays, but wasn’t lucky in his attempts. As I said earlier, today it was arguably our worse game attacking-wise«.

On the dip of his players’ performance after the interval:

«It may seem that we created plays and were better in attack in the first half. But we didn’t do more than a shot following a set piece. In the second half, we had a shot and Athanasiadis’s header in the final stretch of the match. We need to focus on the reasons for this poor turnout«.

On PAOK’s position in the Super League standings:

«This position doesn’t suit PAOK and we need to change that as soon as possible. We have suffered back-to-back defeats lately and that is upsetting. We are working hard and we will give it 100% to turn the situation around«.

On the situation within the team:

«Bad results are a source of insecurity among players and there is pressure created in a club like PAOK. There is no problem in the dressing room, the relationship between the players is good. We just want good results. Only that will change the current situation of the team«.

On the encounter against FC Slovan Liberec:

«On Thursday we will go after qualification. The situation isn’t entirely in our hands. We aim to win our game and then see if there is the desired result in the other match of our group«.
