«Happy for the victory»

PAOK goalkeeper Panagiotis Glykos spoke to Novasports TV after the final whistle of the encounter against PAS Giannina. Here is what he said:

23.01.2017

On the away victory over PAS Giannina:

«It’s a very important result for us and the team. We are making an effort to collect back the points we lost in previous encounters. This is a ground where we usually encounter problems. This season we managed to win here and overtake PAS Giannina in the standings. There is still the match against AEL Larissa ahead and hopefully it will allow us to go further up. I want to congratulate my teammates for managing to deal with this unplayable pitch –it wasn’t just unfit for football, one couldn’t even stand in there. This victory boosts our morale ahead of upcoming matches«.

On the tactics applied by PAOK:

«Our plan was to play long balls, as the opposite was impossible on such a pitch. We went after second chances and chased loose balls in order to score. The goal came early and we didn’t get stressed. There weren’t many opportunities in the game –the pitch not helping at all. It was obvious that the match would be decided by a single goal and we got to score it. We are happy for the victory«.

On his save in the one-on-one with Maboulou:

«In such cases, we goalkeepers apply our technique to make it difficult for the rival forward. I was lucky that the ball came my way and I was able to prevent the goal«.

On the tension after the final whistle:

«We are not affected by it. We are happy for the win«.

On the Greek Cup second leg against Panetolikos:

«We have the upper hand in the tie after our away win. We must remain focused for 90 more minutes, clinch qualification and continue our effort in the Greek Cup«.
