«Victory accompanied by attractive football»

Vladan Ivić spoke to Novasports TV ahead of Sunday’s encounter against AOK Kerkyra (kick off at 19:00 in Toumba Stadium). Here is what the Serbian tactician said about his side’s qualification to the Greek Cup final, PAOK’s objectives and their morale, while also focusing on the match against the Corfu outfit.

28.04.2017

On qualifying to the Greek Cup final:

«We qualified thanks to a mighty comeback. Such second legs, following a two-goal defeat in the first leg, can be very difficult. But we believed in our chances ever since the Leoforos match ended and started building from there. Congratulations to my players and to the fans who were great yet again. They gave us a much-needed boost. Now we go ahead. It was one match, a great evening, but it ended there. Today is a new day and, to be honest, we haven’t achieved anything yet. We did what we had to do and now we look ahead to two encounters. First stop, the match against AOK Kerkyra on Sunday«.

On what such a qualification can mean for the future:

«It’s a morale-boosting ingredient. We know our potential and, as I have said before, we are making a huge effort to improve on a daily basis. Since the start of the season, we have been working with several newcomers and young guys and I have no complaints on how these months have unfolded. We didn’t play well in some games, but in most cases I saw what I wanted on the pitch. It’s normal for every team in the world to be out of form at some point and not give their 100%. But I believe that our rough patch is already in the past«.

On the Greek Cup final:

«AEK Athens are a good side. They have been producing excellent results lately and are much improved compared to the start of the season. They have a plan, a good coach and high aims. It’s a Greek Cup final though, a high-level clash and we will all have our own objectives. I believe we will prepare as best as we can for that game«.

On the encounter against AOK Kerkyra:

«It’s the last game of the regular season and we have to play well and get the three points. That is what I ask of my players. We are playing against a team who have no need for points and can perform freely, without stress. We need to win and we are focusing on getting the best out of this game«.
