Strength and explosiveness
The obstacle of FC Olimpik Donetsk has been dealt with and everyone at PAOK is now focusing on upcoming challenges.
After enjoying the day off on Saturday, players and coaching staff returned to work on Sunday morning in PAOK FC Sports Centre Nea Mesimvria.
The session focused on strength and explosiveness. After some warm-up jogging laps, the players did eccentric drills with TMR bands, 5v5 games and practiced their finishing after combinations of sprints down the flanks and crosses.
Aleksandar Stanojević was absent from training, as he travelled to Sweden to watch PAOK’s next European rival, Östersunds FK, in their away match against GIF Sundsvall.
Regarding the medical report, it has been confirmed that José Alberto Cañas suffered a first-degree calf strain in the encounter against FC Olimpik Donetsk. He started physiotherapy and he is expected to be ready for the first-leg match against Östersunds FK.
Djalma Campos and Μarin Leovac, who picked up some minor injuries against the Ukrainian outfit, participated normally in the session.
Dorian Lévêque has been ruled out of the upcoming friendly matches against PAS Giannina and Lamia. He is following a specialized recovery program in the pool and the gym and is expected to train at a higher intensity level in two-three days.
The coaching staff was happy to see Giannis Mystakidis complete his first warm-up alongside his team-mates, before heading to the gym for his rehabilitation session.
Panagiotis Glykos’s recovery is also going smoothly. The “Double-Headed Eagle’s” goalkeeper is training hard in the gym and the pool and, just like Mystakidis, he will undergo medical tests shortly to check out his recovery status.
As for Fernando Varela, he sat out of the session’s last part out of precaution, after complaining of muscular back spasms. His condition however is not serious.
There is a double session scheduled for Monday, at 09:30 and at 19:30 in Nea Mesimvria.
