Happy Birthday Alexandre!
Our goalkeeper Alexandros Paschalakis turns 31 today, and PAOK FC would like to wish him many years of health, happiness and successes on both a personal and professional level.
Born in Athens on July 1989, he began playing football at just six years old as an attacker. Three years later he «moved» between the sticks and found his true calling.
At 12 years of age he joined the ΑΕΚ youth academy, but the long distance between his home and the training center proved a major problem and the young goalie left the club. Just one year later Olympiacos invited him for a trial and like what they saw, and so signed him.
At 15 he left Piraeus and signed his first professional contract with Ilioupouli in the Greek third tier.
After two years with the club he was invited for a trial by Galatasaray. He traveled to Sweden to take part in a pre-season training camp, where he played in several matches for the ‘B’ team. The Turkish club were keen to sign him but because Paschalakis would take up a vital spot as a foreign player, the move did not go through.
In 2008 he became a free agent and signed a contract with Levadiakos. His first team debut came in 2011 during a Play Offs match in the Football League, but he did not play a match in the top flight after the club were promoted.
In 2012 he left to join PAEEK in Cyprus, where he did not get as much playing time as he would have liked. Soon there was interest in him from Turkey again with Akhisar wanting his services, but he opted not to join the club after going to check out the club and the city.
He returned to Greece and after a period of six months, he signed for Panthrakikos but until January 2016 he had only made 13 appearances. That did not stop PAS Giannina from going after him, and he joined the Ioannina club who had just sold Markos Vellidis to PAOK.
He did not make a single appearance for the Epirus side in his first six months there. In the following summer, however, he was given a place in the starting XI after an injury to Peristeridis, and he produced a strong of impressive displays. He ended the season with 27 appearances under his belt in all competitions, including the Europa League, Super League and Greek Cup.
His appearances with PAS attracted the attention of PAOK, who signed him in the summer of 2017. From December of that year he won a place in the starting lineup in an away match against Xanthi, and from that moment on he has been a first-team regular for the Dikefalos tou Vorra.
So far for the club he has made 99 appearances, winning two Greek Cups and one Super League title, while he is also a full Greek international.
