Rival Analysis: Atromitos
Paokfc.gr’s Rival Analysis column puts the magnifying glass on this week’s opponents Atromitos, giving you the lowdown on everything you need to know about the Athens club ahead of our Super League Interwetten Matchday 15 contest.
Optimism was high and the fans were dreaming again in the summer. Damir Canadi, the man who led Atromitos to some of the greatest moments in the club’s modern history, returned to Peristeri, the spine of the team remained intact, and everyone believed that last season would quickly become a bad memory. The reality, however, turned out to be harsher than expected.
The Peristeri club has collected just 14 points in 13 games, a performance that means they start the match 11th in the standings. Canadi’s team has not yet found its way, and the team’s style of play seems problematic so far.
Atromitos has scored only 11 times, with just four of those goals coming from open play, while they have conceded 18 goals.
George Manousos is the top scorer of the team with five goals, also being top of the creative pile with two assists, while defender Goutas is the second top scorer with two goals.
It is a given that Atromitos has quality players and a god squad, as well as a coach who has already shown his credentials in the past, and who knows the Greek scene. But, Atromitos must improve significantly if the club want to fight for a place in the Play Offs.
