Tzolis: «We want to end the season in the best possible way»

Christos Tziolis spoke to Novasports to give his insights on the upcoming Super League game against Lamia at the Toumba Stadium.

20.02.2021

On how he would describe his achievements this season:

«Up to now things have been going well, and it could still get better yet. There are a lot of games left to play, and I would like to continue in the same way as I have performed up to now and stay fit and healthy.»

On making 33 appearances in 35 games and scoring 15 goals:

«At the start of the season there is no way I was expecting such figures. My aim was to try and get as much playing time as possible with the team. I played in virtually all of the games, and I’m very happy about that. I would like to thanks the aoches for believing in me. And for the goals, I’d like to thank my teammates for all the assists.»

On the fact that as recently as this time last year he was still playing for the Under-19 side and had not yet trained with the first team:

«I have changed quite a lot, I’ve worked hard. It is a difficult step up because you need to work a lot on strength and fitness. In the first team and playing in the league, everything was and is very different.»

On his next major goal:

«To win a title with the team and everything else will follow.»

On the fact that some big European clubs have been alerted to his form:

«I am honored that such big clubs are taking an interest in me. I am a PAOK player though. I am looking to keep improving and I want the year to end in the best way it possibly can for the club.»

On the first week of the year that the team did not have a mid-week match:

«Yes, it was an opportunity for us to have a little rest. We have played a lot of games in succession. It is difficult for a player. We will all be better for it and we will show it on the pitch.»

On the game with Lamia:

«It is going to be a difficult game, as the opposing team are very good defensively. We have to try to score early, so that space opens up, and we must play quick-tempo football.»

On how he imagines himself in a few years from now:

«I wish I knew. Anyway, I expect to be a much better player than I am now.»
