ΠΑΟΚ x HomeFans – This is Toumba

Covid-19 entered our lives and radically changed everything in our daily life, depriving us of what is a sacred moment for all of us: the stadium. Most stadiums remain closed, but PAOK has found the right teammate to re-open the Toumba turnstiles, albeit virtually.

20.04.2021

The Double-headed Eagle has agreed to be part of the HomeFans network by including the Toumba in the top football destinations of the world for sports fans who collect experiences from the most special stadiums in Europe and Latin America.

PAOK’s collaboration with HomeFans will enable football fans from all over the world to experience live, albeit digitally, the magic of the Toumba, to learn about the club’s history and to boost the club’s reputation internationally.

At the same time, the club’s supporters will be able to return to their … home, and get a small dose of pre-Covid-19 life until we have the pleasure of welcoming you to the Toumba once again.

When this finally happens, the next level of the agreement with HomeFans will be activated, which will provide fans from all over the world with the opportunity to travel to Thessaloniki and experience the experience of a derby match at the Toumba. This will help fans understand the relationship of the team with the whole city, and to be introduced to the culture of PAOK fans.

The first live virtual tour of the Toumba that will guide the people around the stadium and will talk about the history of the club, and the stadium itself, will take place after the end of the current season on a date to be announced soon.

Meet HomeFans

And so, let’s meet our new friends. Homefans is a company founded in 2016 with the goal of building a platform that will change the way fans travel around the globe to watch football.

It all started when Luke Verbeek, CEO of Homefans, decided to travel to Manchester to see his beloved United up close. Unknown among strangers for a whole weekend and alone in Manchester, Luke did not have much to do other than go to the stadium and watch the game, without any friends or family. All this until he met up with some locals. Then everything changed. Luke had an unforgettable experience, spending two days with his new friends, and thus the idea of Homefans was born.

When he returned home, he set up his team and began to realize his vision. To travel around the world for football with local fans as guides. Five years later, nothing is the same and Homefans are spreading the love of football fans for both football and travel.

Adapting to the new situation

Covid-19 forced Homefans to adapt. With stadiums closed and a travel ban, the only solution was to turn to the digital world. Homefans have turned to Virtual Tours in stadiums around the world, and now fans can enjoy the experience of a stadium from the comfort of their own home, with local fans putting them in the mood and telling them their own stories, providing exclusive content and a new matchday experience.

What they say about the collaboration:

One of the founders of Homefans, Daniel Velasquez, said:

«This collaboration creates a new scenario for Homefans. We are extremely excited about the countless possibilities offered by the collaboration with a brand and a club like PAOK.

PAOK is not only one of the top clubs in the digital world of football in Europe, but it is also one of the most sought after destinations for our audience.

PAOK believed in the new approach of Homefans that combines digital trends with football, and the idea to transmit all teh different fans’ cultures around the world. Our goal is to develop a series of unique products that combine the experience of the Toumba on the internet and live.

We look forward to offering these unique experiences to the Homefans market.»

On behalf of PAOK, our New Media Director, Panagiotis Aroniadis commented:

«We are pleased to announce this new collaboration between PAOK and Homefans, which will offer football fans from all over the world the opportunity to experience the famous Toumba stadium from inside with exclusive full access and personalized stories.

For a football club with the passion of PAOK, the opening up of the Toumba for the fans, after more than a year, is important, especially during this difficult period of Covid-19, which has affected our lives and football as an essential part of it.

The cooperation with Homefans is part of our strategy for the development of the club and will present PAOK to a new audience outside Greece and Europe. The Toumba and its world-famous atmosphere are a special addition to HomeFans and aims to attract fans who want to see and hear beautiful football stories.

This is the Toumba. Get ready.»
