A response needed in the league, too
PAOK did their duty in mid-week against Lincoln and progressed to the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The qualification has given a boost to morale and confidence, which the players now need to translate into a return to winning ways on the domestic front.
The Double-headed Eagle has a very demanding program ahead in the Super League Interwetten and the Greek Cup, with a game every three days.
The next challenge in the December fixtures is Lamia. PAOK welcome the Fthiotida club to the Toumba Stadium on Sunday (12.12, 17:15) and are aiming to return to winning ways in the league after their mid-week win in Europe.
The preparation for the match started on Friday (10.12) afternoon in Nea Mesimvria.
The players who were in the starting lineup against Lincoln executred a rehabilitation and recovery program both out on the practice pitches and in the gym.
After the warm-up, the rest of the group worked on both ball movement and tactics, while there was also some individual work done with a special set of drills for each player.
Andre Vieirinha and Alexandru Mitrita followed their respective individual programs, as did Nelson Oliveira.
Omar El Kaddouri and Lucas Taylor both limped out of the match against Lincoln, the former with a right thigh niggle and the latter with a left thigh porblem. The two players will have MRI scans in order to determine the extent of their injuries and neither will be available for the time being.
