Gearing up for the big restart
The first scheduled matches of 2022 were postponed due to Covid, affecting the daily life of all of the Greek clubs as well as across Europe. However, PAOK are preparing as normal ahead of the anticipated restart.
After Sunday’s (09.01) day off, the squad were back in again at Nea Mesimvria to continue their work ahead of the difficult fixture list that awaits the team over the next two months. Once again, Razvan Lucescu chose to focus on tactics, concerning bot breaking up the opposition’s play as well as in PAOK’s creative game.
The Romanian coach is trying to take advantage of the changes in the schedule in order to get some key messages through to his players that he wants to see added to their game so that they can improve in the second half of the season when all of the club’s objectives will be decided.
Monday’s (10.01) program included some exercises in possession and movement of the ball within limited spaces, build-up play with finishing and work on the team’s overall defensive tactics. Omar El Kaddouri followed a special individual program with running on the pitch and strengthening in the gym, while Nelson Oliveira and Lucas Taylor also trained individually.
On Tuesday (11.01) PAOK will train at 10:30 at their Nea Mesimvria training base.
