Final curtain at the Toumba
It’s time for game number 58, and the last in Toumba for this marathon season. And like most PAOK games, this one is, you guessed it, a “final” which will decide second place in the Super League Interwetten.
The Double-headed Eagle welcome Panathinaikos, staying true to the unwritten… law of football, which during a season always «predicts» two consecutive matches with the same team for an important league placing and a cup. At PAOK we like to keep such things… for right at the end. Another paradox of many.
Both teams have already secured a European place, and both teams have the cup hidden somewhere in the back of their minds, but the bottom line is that both teams want second place in the standings. Hence the characterization of the game as a «final».
On Monday (16.05) afternoon at the Toumba, players and coaching staff held a training session focused on the tactical approach of the upcoming derby, with an emphasis also on set pieces.
Razvan Lucescu saw all of his players train normally, with the exception of Giannis Michailidis, who is now the only player officially on the injury list as he continues to work his way back from knee surgery.
