«Let’s confirm our comeback»
Optimistic, true to his work and confident that the team are on the rise. Igor Tudor spoke to Novasports TV ahead of the encounter against Panionios at Toumba and provided answers regarding himself and his players.
On the team’s condition, after their two away victories:
«On the morale front, we are much better. It’s impossible to keep the players at a high level without victories. We were playing well, as we did at the start of the season, but didn’t get what we deserved. So, after a while, things tend to get different. It’s very important that we won twice and that will encourage us ahead of the Sunday game«.
On whether the team feels unblocked now:
«I believe so, but we will see that on Sunday. Now more than ever we focus on our football. Our enthusiasm must translate into good performances, as we did a few months ago«.
On the reasons behind the constant changes of players and roles:
«Football is ever changing. Plans can also change within a month. Everything points to us improving. Sometimes we need a few changes, or bigger ones. We need to constantly adjust and change due to injuries, to philosophy or to the rival of the day. We need to be focused at all times, watch training carefully and decide the best for the team«.
On his choice to field the team without a central forward at Chania and whether it’s an experiment that will be repeated given its success:
«I am constantly thinking out solutions. The Crete game and the level of our rival gave us the opportunity to rest some players. The clear-cut striker is an interesting topic. We might use this system again in the future. Maybe not from the start of the game, but during its course, if deemed necessary«.
On whether pressure was a factor during the team’s bad spell and on his plans against Panionios:
«I believe we spoke enough about the reasons behind our bad performances. Let’s look ahead to the future instead. We know Panionios are a good side and are in third place of the standings. We are only interested in winning. And we will do so on Sunday«.
