«I came to stay»
It’s one of the top success stories of 2015. After the disappointment of pain and his premature return home, he proved his worth in the Football League and then flew to PAOK’s senior side and to European competition. Giannis Mystakidis reveals all to PAOK TV.
At the age of 16 he took a very tough decision. He left his family and friends behind and moved to Germany to chase after his dream. He started well, but a serious knee injury made him waste a whole season and return to Greece.
After a try-out period, he convinced the technical staff of PAOK and was offered a contract. He failed in his first attempt to join the senior squad. Angelos Anastasiadis sent him on loan to Pierikos to acquire playing experience. He was a hit there and returned to Toumba more determined than ever. Igor Tudor detected his talent from the start and, with the Croatian tactician as tutor, Mystakidis has achieved a major leap in his career these past six months.
