Aiming for the semis
Talk about the game against Olympiacos isn’t over yet, but PAOK haven’t got the luxury to linger behind, as the 2nd leg of the Greek Cup quarter-final against Panionios is just around the corner.
With Thursday’s game on their mind, PAOK players trained in two groups on Monday. Those who played against Olympiacos did recuperation and decompression work consisting of jogging and gym exercises. Those who didn’t play or featured as subs engaged in a training match focusing on ball circulation in reduced space, possession and movement drills and finishing.
Stelios Kitsiou was absent from the session. On Sunday evening he complained of a stomach bug and it was deemed preferable for him to stay at home and recover, in order to return to work on Tuesday. Giannis Mystakidis continued physiotherapy for his foot sole bruise sustained in the encounter against Atromitos. On Tuesday he will follow a ball session in order to assess whether he is ready to return to action in the game against Panionios. Nikos Melissas recovered from his calf pains, trained normally and is at the disposal of Igor Tudor.
Marin Leovac and Charis Charisis trained at a more intense pace and will start to follow parts of normal training in upcoming days. Panagiotis Glykos, Jairo, Garry Rodrigues and Nikos Korovesis continued with their respective programs. On Tuesday 9 February, PAOK’s training session will start at noon at Nea Mesimvria.
