Fans “grill” Ergys Kace
Ergys Kare responded to the fans’ queries for the official site of the Super League in an entertaining interview.
The team seems to play better after the coach change. What was the problem before, in your opinion?
«A coach change always brings a sense of optimism and boosts a team that have been affected by a series of negative results. We all have made mistakes, but we shouldn’t focus on the blame game right now. We have to finish the season in the best possible way«.
Would you like to see Mr. Ivić remain on the bench for next season as well?
«Mr. Ivić is a very good coach, with a strong personality, knows the mentality of PAOK and has what it takes to be successful. Apart from that though, it’s not my place to speak about this issue«.
Your thoughts on the future? Would you like to remain at PAOK?
«I grew up at PAOK, they are my family. I have been here since my childhood and I acknowledge that PAOK have given me a lot. I am happy to be in Thessaloniki and Toumba and I leave aside all rumours that surface from time to time. That’s football. I just focus on today, because you never know what tomorrow might bring«.
Do you believe that a 2nd-place finish and a Champions League spot is feasible through the play-offs?
«If I didn’t believe that, I wouldn’t have no place on the pitch. PAOK have many good players and can definitely win the play-offs. It won’t be easy, as all our rivals are strong, but there is the point deduction that makes our task very hard«.
How did it feel not entering the plans of the former coach? Did that increase your will?
«There are good and bad moments in football. Even when you don’t play, you must look for the silver lining. Become stronger and better. I wanted to improve constantly, train more and extend my limits«.
How do you judge your career at PAOK so far?
«It gives me great satisfaction to have established myself at a big club such as PAOK, record more than 100 appearances so early in my career and earn the fans’ appreciation. That is a huge honour. I would be lying of course, if I were to say that I am totally satisfied with what I have achieved so far. I have made mistakes, but I am learning from them and I always want the best for me. I am keeping myself motivated at all times«.
Would you ever play for another Greek club?
«I belong to PAOK, the team who offered me so much. My heart and mind are here. I am thinking about nothing else«.
What favour would you ask of PAOK fans?
«Never stop supporting the team. Be by our side through thick and thin. Continue providing us with power, without incidents though«.
Which aspect of your game do you believe you have improved the most, compared with last season?
«I always try to include new elements in my game, without ignoring the characteristics that made me the player I am. The more one plays, the more experience they get and become able to read games. That is very important for a midfielder«.
How do you spend your free time?
«I like to walk, gather with friends at home or go out to dinner. I also play PS4 and follow the big foreign leagues«.
What profession would you have followed, if football hadn’t won you over?
«That is a question I often ask myself, but don’t come up with a clear answer. Thankfully I will never have to find out. I am lucky to be involved in football«.
