PAOK – Levadiakos: Mixed zone

Here is what the two scorers of PAOK said to media representatives after the final whistle of the Levadiakos game.

10.04.2016

Marin Leovac scored his maiden goal for the “Double-Headed Eagle” and paved the way to victory. After collecting his Vodafone MVP award, he said the following:

«It’s great to score goals, especially one as spectacular as today’s. However it’s all about the points now and today we did what we should. In the first half, stress caught up with us, because we were playing well, created chances but failed to convert them. At half-time, we told ourselves that we wouldn’t let this match escape us. We pressured more and were rewarded with victory.

We still have the Platanias game and then the play-offs. We have been working on some new things with our coach on the style he wants to implement and automatisms. Throughout my career I have learned to play with a defence of four. We were having a tough time with the other tactical system, I don’t think the team liked it. Now we are more at ease. It’s hard and unfair to be playing in front of empty stands. It’s tough for us players to adjust to that, as it messes with their concentration. We have proved that we perform better against top rivals.

Why I wasn’t called in the national team? That is a question for the Croatia coach. The only thing I can do is concentrate on my games and help my team. If I keep healthy and play well, I might give the national coach something to think about”.

Róbert Mak returned from suspension with a goal and then said the following:

I was sidelined for four encounters. It was a tough period. Today’s match was also tough, especially with no fans watching from the stands. Things didn’t go our way in the first half, but we kept on pressuring our rivals and managed to score twice in the last stretch of the match. We are focusing on winning our games and that is what we will try to do next week as well. There are still 2-3 weeks left until the play-offs and we will prepare well. Now we focus on the Platanias match. We will make an effort to do better than last season. It isn’t easy, it’s tough, but we aim for first place of the play-offs”.
