The interview

Here is an extract of Giorgos Tzavellas’s interview:

Ivan Savvidis has given very much, besides money. He has invested time and energy, he proves that he passionately loves PAOK and we want to give him something in return. I wish we had won the Greek Cup in 2014. I miss not having earned what we deserve as team and what the administration of Savvidis deserves.

Vladan Ivić is not a new coach. In my opinion, he is an old experienced coach. He helped me very much when I was facing trouble as a person and as a footballer. I am glad he took over the reins at PAOK, I tried my best not only for the team but for me as well and I am happy we managed to secure our participation in the Champions League qualifiers and that he stayed on board. He is a good coach, he knows PAOK, he absorbs tensions and he is capable of making a difference. We have to let him work.

This past season was so eventful. We went through hell and high water, suffered many injuries and all that creates tension. We didn’t have the positive vibes we enjoyed during the play-offs.

It’s very important not to go through another managerial change. Ivić knows the players who get to stay and it will be easier for the 6-7 newcomers to adapt to PAOK. Much easier than having a new coach and 15 new players. We are in a better place than in previous seasons and we will blend quicker. I am convinced of that.

I like it at Thessaloniki, I like competing for an intense team. I have intensity in my life and I need the intensity at PAOK. I live well, I enjoy that our club provides us with everything we need.
