PAOK – Panetolikos: Mixed zone

Here is what the “Two-Headed Eagle’ players said after defeating Panetolikos for the second time and celebrating their qualification to the Greek Cup’s quarter-finals.

Panagiotis Deligiannidis, who scored the opener for PAOK, commented on the team’s finishing:

«It was important not to face dangerous situations in our box. We didn’t create many opportunities today, but we were effective. I am happy to have scored, but our victory is more important.

It’s very important for a big club like PAOK to produce home-grown players. All footballers coming from the academy and those currently in the youth sides have quality.

All players at my age set high objectives. My aim is to establish myself in the team and later, if possible, play at the highest level.

I have no preferences regarding our next rival… Whoever we get drawn against, they will have a tough time against us, because we are a very good team and fear no one.»

Yevhen Shakhov said that the team are getting more tightly knit as times goes by and finding their identity on the pitch:

«It’s important that we won both games. We are on track in the Greek Cup, one of our objectives for the season.

The team are getting tightly knit. There are many new players. Every start is complicated but, as time goes by, we are getting more compact and better organized, in order to achieve our goals.

We welcomed many newcomers in various positions. We need time and patience. We have a quality roster and I believe things will only get better.»
