AEL Larissa – PAOK: Mixed zone

What Pedro Henrique and Stelios Malezas said after PAOK’s victory over AEL in Larissa for matchday 11 of the Super League.

01.02.2017

After making his PAOK debut, Pedro Henrique spoke about the victory in Larissa and the encounters ahead:

We prepared thoroughly, knowing it would be a demanding encounter. We played well and recorded an important victory. There is a tough match ahead on Sunday and we will work hard to win. I will be ready as soon as possible. I can’t wait to play in Toumba Stadium. I have watched videos and I hope to experience beautiful moments on the pitch”.

Stelios Malezas spoke about the team’s bonding and expressed his wish for more victories for the “Two-Headed Eagle”:

It’s important to be on a five-match winning streak on the road. Discipline and hard work help us keep clean sheets. It’s a team effort.

Playing or not is up to the coach. Back-to-back games mean that he will give opportunities to many players. The most important part, however, is that we are doing well and everybody is happy.

We aim for the early goal in every match, because it liberates our moves. We achieve that in most encounters. The team work on ball possession by centre backs in order to facilitate midfielders and full-backs. We all make an effort so that the team will attack properly.

Our bad streak was also due to low morale. Many players were unlucky in front of goal, despite having scored many goals in their career. We need to work more to overcome our bad luck sometimes.

There is talk about restart every year. It’s always difficult and rarely effective. The whole team need to acquire chemistry in order to perform. PAOK lacked that. Now we have bonded, we know each other and can be hopeful for the future, aspiring to more victories.

Asteras Tripolis went through a complete overhaul last summer and they had a tough time adjusting. Now they are in better shape. Their situation resembles ours and they are on the rise.

It’s early to pass judgment on new recruits. We must be patient. I don’t think they will face adjustment problems, as they joined a compact side”.
