Achilleas Pouggouras spoke to Novasports TV ahead of the Super League encounter against Veria. Here is what the young defender said:
On the game against FC Schalke 04:
«We and our fans are disappointed of course with this heavy home defeat. We will try to snap out of it as soon as possible«.
On whether PAOK did their bests:
«We didn’t bring out on the pitch our 100%. I believe we could have won. It wasn’t our finest day. We faced a very good team, with fine players and sound tactics. We could have done better against them«.
On lessons learned from the encounter against the German outfit:
«It was a great experience for all players. We saw Schalke fail to create many chances. We also had our share of opportunities. Had we taken the lead early in the game, it would have been an entirely different match. However, the fact that our rivals scored three times with the few opportunities they got is something that we should focus on. We should react better in similar situations in the future«.
On upcoming encounters:
«This European defeat could affect us, but we must pick up from where we left off in the league. We must win on Sunday and then put on a decent display in Germany«.
On the encounter against Veria:
«I played for Veria last season and my spell there was very helpful. This season they have changed considerably their roster. We need to start strongly, score early and return to victories«.
