«We only aim to win»
Vladan Ivić spoke to Novasports TV ahead of the encounter against AEP Iraklis. Read on paokfc.gr what the coach of “Double-Headed Eagle” said:
On the encounter against FC Schalke 04:
«I believe we played well in the second leg and were better than our opponents. And our first half was finer than the second. We created several plays and could have scored more goals. After the interval, our intensity dropped a bit, our rivals became more dangerous and the game could have gone either way. It ended in a draw. We expected something better out of this match, but we look ahead now and focus on the league«.
On how to achieve consistency:
«So far we have lined up some good displays in all competitions. We played attractive, attacking football and that has been our aim since the beginning of the season. My players have adjusted to that, but there is always room for improvement. We work on it on a daily basis. We are on the right path, as I said previously, and things are going well. But we always aim for more«.
On his tactics with three defenders:
«We have applied that system in some games. It worked in the games against Schalke, although we lacked creativity in the first leg. We have proved we can be effective with it as well. We have players who can function and understand this system and that is useful for upcoming games. They will be readier for it in the future«.
On the encounter against AEP Iraklis:
«We only aim to win. It’s a derby, regardless of our opponents’ position in the standings. I don’t believe they deserve being so low. They play passionately, have good players and are especially dangerous up front. They are in form lately. They collected one point in their last two games, but in my opinion they should have gotten more. We are also aware that it’s been 20 years since our last victory there. That is very motivating. We only want to win, as we do in every game. We need to leave our European games behind and return to the Greek league with an away derby. Such games are always the hardest. Unfortunately we have dropped many points after European encounters and we all understand we have no luxury of losing more ground. We must adjust, start well and win the match«.
