AEP Iraklis – PAOK: Mixed zone

Read what the players of the “Double-Headed Eagle” said after the final whistle of the encounter against AEP Iraklis in Kaftanzoglio Stadium.

26.02.2017

Pedro Henrique, who limped out of the encounter due to a knock, spoke about his condition and the reasons that led to the draw:

It was a bad game and we didn’t play the football as we can, we didn’t perform according to our potential.

I was in a lot of pain in the toe and couldn’t step on my foot for 10-15 minutes. Hopefully it’s nothing important

We weren’t good and our opponents contributed to that, opting to keep us at bay with long crosses. But we allowed them to, as we failed to carve out the opportunities we usually do in every game.

We have many fans and their support boosts us. We are not satisfied with our display nor the result and we must return to our winning ways as soon as possible.

Stelios Malezas is a man of few words and didn’t shy away from responsibility, assuming the blame on behalf of his teammates:

Nothing went well today. We didn’t apply what our coach said. We knew how our rivals would play, they didn’t surprise us.

There are no excuses for today’s result.

As for Léo Matos, he signaled the team’s intent to bounce back:

We conceded from a set piece, we didn’t function as we should have in that aspect. We had worked a lot, we had prepared for this game.

We wanted to attack. We were good in the first half, but the match level dropped after the interval. We failed to win and, after conceding, it was tough to restore our lead. The pitch wasn’t good either. I can’t explain how this victory escaped us.

We need to work, be calmer and improve in upcoming games. Today we didn’t play as we should have.
