Stelios Kitsiou spoke to Novasports TV on the occasion of the play-offs opening encounter against AEK Athens. Here is what the young full-back said about the Toumba clash, the Greek Cup triumph and how it has affected the team.
On the Greek Cup triumph and how it has affected the squad:
«Everyone within PAOK family are happy, the players, the coach, the fans… We were thirsty for a title and we managed to win it. However, we must leave it behind us now, as we approach the tough encounters of the play-offs and we aim for top spot«.
On the importance of the Greek Cup win:
«We were thirsty for that title. It means a lot to us. Hopefully it’s just the beginning and many more will follow. But that win is already in the past. The only thing on our minds now is to win the play-offs and we must focus on that exclusively. We are overjoyed with the Greek Cup, the trophy is here to stay, but we must look ahead«.
On the play-offs:
«We have the same draw as last season. The team is in optimum condition right now. Our morale is boosted, we have self-confidence and I believe we can repeat last season’s feat and claim top place«.
On PAOK having an advantage:
«Our high morale is an asset and there is also the two-point advantage. We have a good chance of achieving our goal«.
On the opening match against AEK Athens and the differences compared to the Greek Cup final:
«It’s a totally different encounter. If we remain focused and play our game, we will be able to win this home match«.
On the effect of the Greek Cup final on the two sides:
«As I previously said, these are different games. If we work hard in trainings and manage to bring out on the pitch what our coach says, everything will go as planned«.
