PAOK in the 5th International Goalkeeping Coaches Conference
Work never stops. Not even in post-season days. PAOK are aiming to improve everything for their football section, regarding training and services rendered to their players. That is the one-way road leading to success.
While PAOK players are resting after an exhausting season, those working in the “Double-Headed Eagle’s” football section are preparing for next season, in order to ensure that the team keep ascending. Goalkeeping coach Giorgos Skiathitis participated as a keynote speaker in the 5th International Goalkeeping Coaches Conference, held in Oporto from 25 to 27 May.
The conference consisted of practical input, displayed in “Do Besa”, Boavista FC’s home ground, as well as theoretical parts analyzed at Oporto University.
Many coaches from major clubs of Europe participated in the conference, including those of RB Leipzig, RC Deportivo de La Coruña, SL Benfica, FC Shakhtar Donetsk, Stade Rennais FC, the national teams of Argentina and the Netherlands. Football people from around the world discussed new tendencies and methodology in goalkeeping coaching.
In his speech, Giorgos Skiathitis spoke about his methods of reaction and techniques in one-on-one situations, based on his work with PAOK goalkeepers.
As he later told paokfc.gr, “participating in such a renowned conference is a huge honour for a goalkeeping coach and I am very happy, both for the club and myself, that we took part for the first time”.
