Under-19’s warm up for European clash with win over Lamia
PAOK’s Under-19 side kept their winning form going with a 2-0 win over Lamia in the Super League, producing a strong performance which bodes well for their next European match in the coming week.
The Fthiotida club, who may be struggling in the lower reaches of the table, made life difficult for Pablo Garcia and Miroslav Schnauzchner’s team.
The reining champions made a bright start and were ahead in the 16th minute with captain Michailides finding the net following a corner kick.
The visitors tried their best to respond, but PAOK stood firm in defense. After 30 minutes, Panidis hit the crossbar, and shortly before half-time Doumtsis passed up a great opportunity to score.
The second half was a similar story to the irst. PAOK made a strong start and doubled their advantage in the 15th minute, when Panidis scored from a rebound after Doumtsis’s shot came back off the woodwork. That made the score 2-0 and although both teams had opportunities to score, neither managed to get a breakthrough.
