PAOK at the Professional Football Players Association awards
PAOK swept all before them last season. The club won the league and cup double without losing a single match and breaking a series of historic records in the process. On Tuesday (28.01) evening, it was time for the team and its players to be honored by their fellow professionals.
The 38th edition of the PSAP (Professional Football Players Association) had a strong black and white flavor. It was something that did not come as a surprise, however. PAOK, in winning the league and cup double without losing a match, were understandably strongly represented in the awards selected by the players themselves for the 2018-19 campaign.
Alexandros Paschalakis won the award for the best goalkeeper, Adelino Vieirinha was voted as best foreign player, Fernando Varela was included in the league’s best starting XI, and former coach Razvan Lucescu won the award for the best coach of the year.
PAOK’s Under-19 side also won an award for last season’s unbeaten run en-route to the league title, as well as PAOK’s general manager Christos Karipidis, who was honored for his service to Greek football. Also, one of the club’s supporters, Antonis Giovas, with the support of the black and white family, managed to stand up on his own two feet for the first time in his life.
PAOK TV presented four videos at the star-studded event and paokfc.gr can share them with you now. Enjoy!
