PAOK vs. OFI: Facts & Figures
Ahead of PAOK’s Super League Matchday 23 clash against OFI, paokfc.gr puts you in the picture about the background to the match, as well as a look back at our previous encounters against the Cretans.
- The two teams are meeting each other for the fourth time this season, having been paired in the Round of 16 of the Greek Cup. So far PAOK has recorded three wins against the Cretans and five wins in succession overall including both home and away matches.
- On their last three visits to Thessaloniki, OFI have lost all three matches without registering a goal, while the Heraklion team have scored just once in their last six away matches against PAOK. And that goal was exactly seven years ago on February 9th 2013 when OFI lost 3-1, having taken the lead through Perogamvraki. PAOK responded with three goals (38’ Athanasiadis, 44’ Katsikas, 49’ Lawrence) to win the match.
- 41 matches have been played between the two teams in the Greek top flight in Thessaloniki, with PAOK counting 33 wins, OFI just one, while seven matches have ended in draws. OFI’s only win came in January 1993 by a 2-1 scoreline (25′ Lagonidis – 64′ Machlas, 83′ Georgamilis).
- 5 – the most goals PAOK has scored against OFI in one match. In the 2013-14 season, PAOK beat OFI 5-0, repeating a feat first achieved in the 1977-78 campaign.
- 2-0 – the most popular scoreline in matches between the two teams, as it has appeared eight times in home matches against OFI. It is also the only scoreline that has appeared in two successive matches. Additionally, in the first eight meetings between the two teams since the start of Greece’s top division, there were right different scorelines.
- 21 – the number of times that the two teams have met at the Toumba since 1993. PAOK has won 18 times and three games have ended in draws (two of those draws were via a 2-2 scoreline and one of them 0-0)
- On September 22 1968 newly-established OFI made it’s top flight debut against PAOK at the Toumba. The Dikefalos tou Vorra went 3-0 ahead in the first half thanks to two goals from Giorgos Koudas (33′, 37′) and one from Aslanidis (45′). The Cretans responded after the half-time interval, however, with Karakyriakos (59′) reducing the deficit to 3-1, before Lazos (88′) replied for PAOK to make the final score 4-1 in the home side’s favor.
