PAOK FC club statement

PAOK FC’s official response to Olympiacos, via paokfc.gr.

24.02.2020

We would like to sincerely apologize to Olympiacos FC for the jungle-like conditions that they experienced on Sunday evening which were concealed from the public on purpose by PAOK TV, in the same way that our channel concealed the detailed replays from the offside ‘goal’ scored by Fernando Varela, in our efforts to fool the general public.

It was our mistake that the front door slammed shut in their faces and they had to pass thorugh our angry mobs of supporters. It was our mistake to force them to change positions during the warm-up in order to avoid being hit by flares and fireworks. It was our mistake that masked Marinakis footsoldiers scattered American dollars on the pitch. They are correct that the banners wishing Mr. Marinakis and his family a short life should not be displayed. Finally, we are sorry for the profanity of our supporters with the anti-national slogan «Bulgarians» being the shame of our country.

We hope that they do not have to go through such unacceptable hospitality ever again.

And because we are sure they are not interested in inflicting any support-ban punishments, and that their announcement is purely because of the «horror» they experienced and not just another fantasy, we urge the sports judge to request and view all the videos from each and every one of our CCTV (closed circuit TV cameras), all of which were working normally.

P.S. And also, what the neutral observers have been pointing out about the Toumba’s atmosphere is simply a well-crafted plot by PAOK FC to escape punishment. It is also well known that Mr Ivan Savvidis owns 80% of the press’ s distribution monopoly, the paid-for cable TV channel that finances most of hte teams in the league and sponsors all sports headlines. We call on all of Greece’s ordinary fans to ignore what they see with their own eyes and to believe what Olympiacos complains about, as they are a team that never provokes or attempts to poison Greek sports.
