In need of a response
The premiere of the Super League Play Offs did not go according to plan for PAOK, and the defeat has left the club some distance away from top spot in the standings.
The disappointment of Sunday’s derby match at the Toumba is a matter of fact. And in turn, the demand of a prompt and apt response is also considered the same among the players as they look to make up for their mistakes during the remaining matches of the Play Offs. With nine games to go, however, it’s far too early to make solid conclusions, especially considering the unprecedented circumstances of these matches being played in the post-lockdown environment.
After a rest day on Monday, Abel Ferreira and his players were back in to get to work preparing for the upcoming trip to take on Panathinaikos. It’s there in that match where PAOK will be aiming to get a win which will give the squad a psychological boost as well as a points boost as the Play Offs begin to progress.
The Portuguese technician welcomes Ingi Ingason and Dimitris Giannoulis back into the fold after they both served the last game of their respective suspensions, while the good news from the post-mortem of the match against Olympiacos is that there are no fresh injury worries to add to an already busy treatment room. Tuesday’s (09.06) training session was focused mainly on fitness conditioning, passing and attacking build-up play drills.
PAOK will back back in for training at Nea Mesimvria on Wednesday (10.06) at 10:00.
