Michailidis: «It’s a tough situation, but we’re PAOK»

See what goalscorer Giannis Michailidis had to say after the 2-2 Super League Play Offs draw with OFI Crete.

05.07.2020

On his goal:

«We worked on this kind of specific situation in training and it worked out in the game. When you start in the club’s academy your end goal is to make it to the first team and get as much playing time as you can. Step-by-step and with hard work, the rewards come. It’s difficult to come into the first team from the Under-19 side, but the other players help a lot and as I said, hard work gets rewarded in the end.»

On the draw with OFI:

«We are fully aware of that the situation we find ourselves in and we’re not at all satisfied with the results and ourselves. But we are looking ahead to the next match now. We have Wednesday’s game to focus on. When you take the lead so early in a match, sometimes you relax, this is what happens in football. But we are PAOK and we always go to every stadium to win.»

On the encouragement from his teammates for him to take the free-kick:

«It started from [Ingi] Ingason who suggested that I should take the free-kick. Mauricio then helped by agreeing that it should me me who took it. The situation is difficult, but we work very hard, and every game is worth three points so we are looking to get as many points as we can from the games that are left.»
