- This is the seventh time that the Double-headed Eagle is taking part in the Champions League qualifying rounds to try and reach the groups stage.
- The first time was in the 2004-05 season against Maccabi Tel Aviv, the second was against Ajax in 2010-11, the third was in 2013-14 against Metalist and then Schalke, while in the 2016-17 season it was Ajax again in the third qualifying round. In the 2018-19 PAOK came up against FC Basel, whom they eliminated with two wins, before also progressing past Spartak Moscow, only to be eliminated by Benfica. In the 2019-20 season the draw paired PAOK once again with Ajax in the third qualifying round. After a 2-2 draw at the Toumba Stadium, PAOK lost 3-2 in Holland.
- PAOK’s overall record in 18 matches is three wins, seven draws and eight defeats. Also, five of those seven draws came away from home. PAOK has scored 25 goals in those games, with Aleksandar Prijovic the top scorer with four, and Vladan Ivic, Stefanos Athanasiadis and Diego Biseswar all having two goals to their names. On the scorers list are also the following: Necid, Stoch, Katsouranis, Giasoumis, Vieirinha, Salpingidis, Djalma, Pelkas, Limnios, Canas, Varela, El Kaddouri, Warda, Akpom, Leo Matos.
- This is only the second team that PAOK is facing a team from Turkey. The previous encounter against Turkish opposition was Fenerbahce in 2010-11 before PAOK went on to lose to Ajax in the Champions League qualifiers. The Turks were PAOK’s opponents in the Europa League Play Offs. A 1-0 win at the Toumba Stadium (19’ Vieirinha ) laud the foundation for PAOK to claim their place in the group stage. Bezoglou’s (50’) goal in the return leg sent the tie into extra time but Muslimovic netted in the 102nd minute to send PAOK through.
