Last summer was marked by many changes for the Trifylli. A change in the coaching  leadership came with the conclusion of the Donis era and Danny Poyatos taking over. There was also a change in the club’s economic policy with a respectable budget for transfers, bringing the arrival of experienced players to support the plan with using youngsters, and there were dreams of getting back to winning titles.

In practice, the project turned out to be more difficult than it seemed on paper, and this was seen early on from the pre-season friendly matches. The team’s problematic approach continued into the first few league games and caused a domino of new changes in October.

First Poyatos and then Xavi Roca left the club, and so Laszlo Boloni arrived to take charge of the Trifylli. A different choice completely compared to the previous one in the summer, with the club’s administration deciding that the situation needed someone experienced enough in order to manage things and bring Panathinaikos back on the right track.

After the necessary adjustment period, the chain-smoking Romanian technician started to produce results. Under his guidance, the Greens changed their style of play and have begun to pick up points, managing to reach fifth place in the standings with 18 points from 12 games, and the club appears to be on the rise.

Macheda and Carlitos lead the Panathinaikos forward line with four goals each, while the team’s top creative force is Tasos Hatzigiovanis with two assists. In total, the Greens have scored 13 times and have conceded 10 goals so far in the first 12 games of the season, a fact that testifies to the defensive problems that still afflicts their play.
